Lotto New Zealand’s Thank a Sport Maker ‘Vantage Black Sticks’ Promotion

Terms & Conditions September 2017


1.    New Zealand Lotteries Commission’s (“Lotto NZ”) ‘Vantage Black Sticks’ Promotion (“Promotion”) runs from 9am on Friday 22 September until midnight on Friday 20 October 2017 (“the Term”). 

2.    This Promotion forms part of the Thank a Sport Maker Reward and Recognition Programme (“Programme”) conducted by Sport New Zealand (“Sport NZ”) and New Zealand Lotteries Commission (“Lotto NZ”) (together the “Parties”).

3.    10 sports volunteers will win $1,000 worth of Lotto Volunteers merchandise (“Merchandise Prize”) with one volunteer also being awarded the ‘Vantage Black Sticks Experience’ (“Experience Prize”).


4.    To enter the Promotion you must submit a nomination form for your sports volunteer (“Sport Maker”) at during the Term. All fields must be completed to be eligible for the Promotion.

5.    The person that nominates (“Nominator”) must:

a)    believe that the Sport Maker being nominated provides voluntary help to a sports club or for a sporting activity associated with a school or other organisation.

b)    believe that the Sport Maker’s story is an accurate representation of the Sport Maker’s volunteering and that the Sport Maker being nominated will be happy to have the story promoted, should the Parties or a Regional Sports Trust (RST) choose to do so.

c)    believe that all information provided in the nomination is true, accurate and complete and is not in any way offensive, malicious, objectionable or defamatory and does not infringe any rights of any other person.

d)    accepts and agrees to be bound by these Terms by nominating a Sport Maker for this Promotion. 

6.    Nominators may nominate themselves as a Sport Maker into the Promotion. 

7.    Nominators may nominate more than one Sport Maker into the Promotion. 


8.    At the end of the Term, Lotto NZ will select 10 Sport Makers to win a Merchandise Prize with one Sport Maker winner also being awarded the Experience Prize.  

9.    The 10 Sport Maker winners, including the Experience Prize Winner will be selected based on merit as determined by Lotto NZ, based on the information in their nomination.

10.    Nominators will be notified by email and/or phone if the person they nominated is a winner by Friday 27 October 2017.

11.    Should the Nominator for the Experience Prize winner not be able to be contacted before 5pm on Friday 27 October, the Sport Maker will forfeit their Experience Prize and another Sport Maker winner will be selected. 


12.    Each Sport Maker winner will receive one voucher to the value of $1,000 (including GST).  A Sport Maker winner may redeem a voucher for merchandise at

13.    Merchandise items listed on are subject to availability and may change any time without notice. See NZ Uniforms terms and conditions for details.

14.    Vouchers:

(a) are non-negotiable, non-saleable and non-exchangeable for cash;

(b) are only redeemable at; and

(c)  expire three months after the Promotion close date or if the voucher balance is less than the lowest value item of merchandise available.

15.    To be eligible for a Merchandise Prize a Sport Maker must:

(a)    Be a verifiable (at the Parties’ discretion) New Zealand sports volunteer;

(b)    Live in New Zealand


16.    The Experience Prize is for one Sport Maker winner and their guest of choice only (“Winning Pair”). 

17.    At least one member of the Winning Pair must be 18 years of age or older. If one member is under 18 years of age, parental consent is required to attend the experience. 

18.    The Experience Prize consists of the following:

(a)    Return flights (if required) for the Winning Pair to Auckland from the regional airport nearest to where the entrant lives, departing Friday 24 November and returning Monday 27 November. 

(b)    Return transfers (if required) from Auckland Airport to The Spencer on Bryon Hotel.

(c)    Three night’s twin share accommodation at The Spencer on Bryon Hotel on 24, 25 and 26 November, including breakfast each day.

(d)    Two General Admission tickets to the Hockey World League Final Auckland at Harbour Hockey Stadium (60 Paul Matthews Road, Rosedale, Albany) for the following matches:

(e)    Food vouchers to the value of $300 to be redeemed at the Hockey World League Final. Any unspent balance will expire at the conclusion of the event.

(f)    Return taxi fares to and from the Hockey World League Final Auckland at Harbour Hockey Stadium each day. 

(g)    One $500 Prezzy Card. 

(h)    One signed Vantage Black Sticks hockey stick.

(i)    Two Vantage Black Sticks Fanwear Tees and Hoodies 

19.    Should the Winning Pair reside within Auckland or its surrounding areas and choose to drive, one paid carpark will be available at The Spencer Bryon Hotel for the duration of their stay. The Winning Pair may choose to receive two $50 MTA vouchers instead of the return taxi fares prize 19(f). 

20.    The Prize does not include meals (other than hotel breakfasts), drinks (including hotel mini-bar), local or international phone calls, internet access, or any other costs or expenses such as additional transport or parking costs around Auckland, all of which, must be borne by the Winning Pair. All Prize components must be taken together. 

21.    By accepting the Experience Prize, the Winning Pair authorise Lotto NZ to assess their eligibility, which may include verification of the Winning Pair’s ages. In the event that Lotto NZ is not satisfied that the Winning Pair is eligible, the Experience Prize will be forfeited and Lotto NZ will select another Sport Maker.  

22.    If, for any reason, either of the Winning Pair cannot travel during the dates specified the Prize will be forfeited and Lotto NZ will select another Sport Maker to be awarded the Experience Prize. Lotto NZ reserves the right to change travel dates at their discretion. 

23.    A credit card will be required at the hotel but will not be charged unless any expenses are incurred that are not included in the prize package.

24.    Any changes to Prize travel dates or accommodation made by the Winning Pair will be at the cost of the Winning Pair.

25.    Prizes are non-negotiable, non-transferable and non-exchangeable for cash. 


26.    Results will be published once all Sport Makers have been awarded their Prizes. 

27.    The 10 Sport Maker winners will be asked to make themselves available for publicity purposes at the Parties’ discretion and expense, which may include publication of their name and image. Sport Makers will not receive payment for such publicity. 

28.    The Parties and any associated third-party service providers shall not be responsible or liable for:

a)    any late or misdirected nominations or for any inability to enter, complete, continue or conclude the nomination process for any reason, including (without limitation) any equipment or technical malfunction, Acts of God or otherwise;

b)    any malicious, illegal, offensive, dishonest or incorrect information included in any nomination; or

c)    any loss, damage or injury of any kind whatsoever which is suffered or sustained (directly or indirectly) by any Sport Maker in connection with the Experience Prize or Merchandise Prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. 

29.    Nominators will only receive emails from the Parties regarding the Promotion and they may unsubscribe from such emails at any time via the unsubscribe link. This may not prevent nominators from receiving future emails associated with future nominations.

30.    We will comply with the Privacy Act 1993 in respect of any personal information that we collect. Where we hold personal information about you that can be readily retrieved, you may request access to, or correction of, that information. Please email your enquiries to our privacy officer at:

31.    The Parties are authorised to disclose Nominators’ and Sports Makers’ personal information to relevant Regional Sports Trusts and associated third-party service providers for the purpose of conducting the Programme.

32.    Employees of Lotto New Zealand are not permitted to enter the competition.

33.    The Parties shall have the right to alter these Terms, to halt or postpone the Programme or deem void any or all nomination entries, and/or vouchers at any time and without reason. All decisions of the Parties in relation to the Programme are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

34.    The Promotion is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook and Facebook has no liability to entrants in relation to the promotion. Entrants agree to fully release Facebook from any and all liability in relation to their participation in this promotion. All information entrants provide in connection with this promotion is to Lotto NZ and not to Facebook

35.    By entering the Promotion or accepting a Prize, you accept these terms and conditions.
